Welcome back from the half term break
I would like to start by welcoming everyone back to after the half-term break. Before the holiday, we enjoyed an incredibly busy few weeks bringing learning to life for the children with lots of exciting creative learning experiences taking place throughout the school. These included Y3 visiting the theatre in Corby to see the incredible Dinosaur World Live show and our Y5 class visiting an Anglo-Saxon Village and Museum in Suffolk in addition to lots of other school based opportunities.
Exciting new developments
Earlier this year, we were successful in securing some capital funding to improve our catering and dining facilities for our children. The installation of our new kitchen and food servery were completed during the half-term break and we are thrilled with our new facilities. We will also be replacing all of our dining room furniture in the next few weeks. We have some very exciting plans for the use of our new catering facilities which we will be sharing with you in the next few weeks.
Mini Police Project
I am also delighted that we have been selected to participate in the above 2 year project in partnership with Lincolnshire Police. During last term, all children in our Y5/6 classes were given the opportunity to work with our local PCSOs to prepare for a democratic election of our 10 mini police officers who will represent the school in the project.
All children who were interested in taking part in the project prepared a speech about why they feel they could be an effective and responsible mini police officer and they then shared their speeches with the PCSOs. Our 10 mini police officers were then duly elected by their peers and they are very excited and keen to get started on the project this term with the PCSOs. You will see them out and about in the coming weeks and months and they will greatly appreciate your parental support with some community based tasks that they will be undertaking on behalf of the school.
‘Celebration of Learning’ event – Tuesday 13th November 2018
Finally, we will all be very busy during the next couple of weeks preparing for our next exciting ‘Celebration of Learning’ event which will be held on Tuesday 13th November 2018 at 6pm. We will be opening a new Gallery exhibition, there will be a performance by our Young Voices choir and there will also be some very exciting entertainment during the evening linked to our theme of developing a happy and healthy school! All classes from Nursery to Y6 will be busy preparing their own special contributions for the evening and I do hope that you will all come along and celebrate your children’s achievements with them at the event.
